Evaluating Health Education Materials Toolkit

Evaluating Health Education Materials: A Toolkit on Meeting the Title X Information and Education Guidelines was designed to help Title X Delegate Agencies in California offer their clients culturally and linguistically appropriate health education materials and services. However, the Toolkit can easily be tailored to meet the needs of other programs nationwide, with or without Title X funding.

This Toolkit features six main steps and tools for:

Step 1: Creating evaluation protocols and a customized plan for evaluating health education materials.

Step 2: Choosing materials to evaluate provides guidelines and suggestions for how to select and prioritize materials.

Step 3: Evaluating for linguistic and cultural competency including medical accuracy, reading level, appropriate use of graphics, and cultural responsiveness for the client population you serve.

Step 4: Gathering feedback from clients to ensure materials are appropriate for their community.

Step 5: Documenting the process outlines how you can keep proper documentation of the materials evaluation process.

Step 6: Getting ready for a site evaluation
